A written request for consent to leave Malaysia should be made to the DGI at least fourteen (14) days in advance of the proposed departure. Please note that the application with supporting documents shall be submitted to the branch that is administering your bankruptcy file. If you are not sure of which branch is administering your case, you may conduct bankruptcy search.

- the reasons for the proposed trip;
- the names of the countries you propose to visit;
- the date you intend to leave Malaysia;
- the date you intend to return to Malaysia;
- details of the itinerary and any overseas contact details;
- the name of the person paying for the trip, the cost of the trip, and a confirming letter from that person;
- an email address, telephone number and overseas address where you could readily be contacted;
- your current annual income;
- your proposed arrangements for paying any contribution liability whilst overseas; and
- any documentary evidence supporting the request(hyperlink to checklist)
The DGI must have adequate time and information to consider your request. You will be advised promptly of the DGI’s decision and any conditions placed on your travel.
The DGI may refuse consent where the bankrupt’s presence is necessary for the proper and efficient administration of the bankruptcy.
If consent is granted, the DGI must do so in writing before departure.
If you are not satisfied with the DGI’s decision, you may appeal to the DGI with new / extra grounds for your application. The appeal to the DGI can only be made once. If you are not satisfied with the DGI’s decision on your application or your appeal, you may appeal to the court against the DGI.
